The Victron Energy SmartShunt 500A/50mV shunt is an all-in-one battery monitoring solution designed for systems requiring precise tracking without the bulk of a dedicated display. It differs from counterparts like the BMV-712 battery monitor by lacking an integrated display, programmable visual/sound alarms, and a programmable relay, thus offering simplified installation and reduced wiring. Data access is via the VictronConnect app on a smartphone or tablet, connected via Bluetooth, displaying state of charge, remaining autonomy, and history.
Integration and flexibility of the SmartShunt
This SmartShunt 500A/50mV features a VE.Direct port for seamless integration with Victron GX devices, enabling centralized system management. Its versatile auxiliary input can monitor the voltage of a second battery (such as a starter battery), the midpoint of a battery bank, or connect an optional temperature sensor (ASS000100000). This flexibility makes it a key component for optimized monitoring of complex battery banks.

It offers a measurement accuracy of ±0.01 A for current and ±0.01 V for voltage, with an IP21 protection rating for the standard version, and an IP65 version is available for harsher environments.
