Detailed description
Detailed description
The XSONIC Airmar B285M through-hull CHIRP transducer is designed for mid-water fishing and commercial applications. With a power output of 1 kW (1000 Watts), it operates on the CHIRP mid-band from 85 kHz to 135 kHz, delivering improved target resolution and seabed detail across a total bandwidth of 50 kHz. This transducer can reach a maximum depth of 457 meters (1,500 feet).
Advanced technical capabilities
The B285M integrates fast-response depth and water temperature sensors. Its beam angle ranges from 16° to 11° across the frequency range, allowing users to create presets to switch between wide beams (85 kHz) for scanning large areas and narrow beams (135 kHz) for precise structure targeting. CHIRP technology ensures optimal target separation and image clarity.
Design and installation
Featuring a bronze housing, this transducer is suitable for fiberglass or wooden hulls, whether planing or displacement. It is designed for through-hull installation with a high-performance fairing block that enhances broadband performance and maintains clear sonar data even at speeds above 30 knots (34 MPH). A 30 mm (1-3/16 inch) hole is required for installation. The supplied cable measures 10 meters (33 feet). Xducer ID® technology enables automatic recognition for simplified setup. Recommended for boats 8 meters (25 feet) and larger.
