An Irens-Cabaret 19 m built on the hulls of ORMA 60 Fujifilm and Banque Populaire
Paradox 2.0 is a cruising-racing trimaran19.15 m (63 ft) launched in March 2010. Designed by Nigel Irens and Benoît Cabaret, it was built by Marsaudon Composites in Lorient, in carbon/epoxy infused on the original female molds of the ORMA 60 Fujifilm and Banque Populaire. The platform thus reuses the hull of a 60-foot ocean racing monohull, adapted for two tonnes of interior fit-out and a rig with less sail area.

At this size, the boat comfortably sails above 20 knots, exceeds 30 knots downwind, and averages 300 to 350 nautical miles per day — an Atlantic crossing in 7 to 10 days.
Designed for long-range autonomous cruising
The project was conceived from the outset as a bluewater sailboat operable with a small crew, not as a grand-prix machine. The deck integrates features tailored to this brief:retractable articulated anchor arm, tender garage, electric winches, and hydraulic mainsail traveler. The shorter rig and reduced beam compared to an ORMA 60 align with the same goal: a trimaran that six people can sail shorthanded in transatlantic races.
Race record
Under its first owner, Californian Peter Aschenbrenner, Paradox raced in the United States, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. Under the flag of Paul Flynn (Falmouth) since, the boat has continued to compete in MOCRA.
