Designed for HF (HF) communications aboard commercial and recreational vessels, the AC Antennas KUM803MWM is a 7.88-meter (approximately 8-meter) fiberglass whip antenna. This 3-section omnidirectional antenna is specifically engineered to operate with automatic antenna tuner systems, covering a frequency range of 1.4 to 30 MHz in transmit and receive (Tx/Rx).
Design and Performance
The KUM803MWM antenna handles a maximum input power of 1200 Watts PEP (Peak Envelope Power), making it suitable for high-power HF transmitters. Its design incorporates copper radiating elements to prevent galvanic corrosion and a crimp construction that enhances structural robustness. The antenna supports a maximum RF voltage of 18 kV, while the included insulator can withstand a maximum voltage of 100 kV over a length of 210 mm. The characteristic impedance is 50 Ohms, with insulation resistance exceeding 109 Ohms and a static capacitance of 100 pF. The polarization is vertical, and the antenna is not DC-shorted.
Durability and Installation
Constructed from fiberglass with a white polyurethane lacquer finish, this antenna weighs 8 kg. It is designed to withstand harsh marine environmental conditions, with an operating temperature range of -55°C to +60°C and an IP66 protection rating. The KUM803MWM can endure winds of 200 km/h (44 m/s) and generates a wind load of 293 N at 160 km/h. The antenna is supplied with an integrated MWM mounting bracket, compatible with masts of 30 to 100 mm diameter using stainless steel hose clamps. Connection is via a side M8x1.25 bolt.
