Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G 3D motion sensor is a fundamental component of the H5000 instrumentation system, specifically designed for high-performance racing and cruising sailboats. It provides essential motion data that allows the H5000 processors to correct and refine raw sensor data, delivering unmatched precision for navigation and autopilot operation.
3-axis motion measurement
This sensor accurately measures boat motion across three axes. It transmits real-time yaw rate, pitch rate, and roll rate. From this data, it also calculates heel angle and trim angle. This detailed analysis is crucial as it enables the system to distinguish boat motion from true wind, eliminating errors induced by waves and swell to provide more stable and reliable wind data.
Core integration within the H5000 system
The 3D motion sensor is essential for unlocking the full potential of the Hercules and Performance H5000 processors. Without it, the advanced motion correction algorithms of these central units remain inactive. Its integration significantly improves the responsiveness and reliability of the H5000 autopilot, particularly in rough sea conditions, by allowing it to anticipate boat movements. Connection to the system is straightforward via a standard CAN network, NMEA 2000 compatible, ensuring seamless integration into the B&G ecosystem.
Technical specifications
Designed for the marine environment, the sensor housing is IPx6 certified. It operates within a temperature range of -15°C to +70°C. Its compact dimensions of 131 x 61 x 45 mm and weight of 0.17 kg allow for discreet installation. Power is supplied at 12 V DC (range 9-16 V) with very low consumption of 0.6 W, equivalent to 1 LEN on the NMEA 2000 network.
