Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for marine electrical systems of small outboard and diesel engines, the BLUE SEA m-Series Mini On-Off 6005-BSS battery switch provides reliable power management. This single-circuit ON/OFF switch can handle continuous current of 300A at 48V DC, with a 900A cranking capacity for 30 seconds and intermittent current of 500A for 5 minutes. It is optimized for applications where space is a limiting factor.
Design and performance
The 6005-BSS features tinned copper terminals of 3/8"-16 (M10) for maximum conductivity and enhanced corrosion resistance. The one-piece terminal stud design ensures a stable connection that does not loosen over time. For flexible integration, the switch offers multiple mounting options: surface, front panel, or rear panel, with a three-section removable insulating cover that protects the rear contacts while allowing easy cable access from any direction.
Safety and compliance
This model is "Ignition Protected" certified, making it safe for installation on gasoline-powered boats. Its durability is ensured by a durable reinforced polycarbonate construction and non-corrosive marine-grade metals. The BLUE SEA m-Series Mini 6005-BSS switch complies with American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) requirements for battery switches, is UL 1107 listed for electrical power switches, and meets UL 1500 and SAE J1171 standards for external ignition protection. It is also CE and ISO 8846 certified and has an IP66 ingress protection rating, protecting against dust and powerful water jets.
Positioning in the range
The 6005-BSS is positioned as a compact and economical solution within the BLUE SEA range. It is ideal for small to medium-sized systems, distinguishing itself from the e-Series models (350A continuous) designed for inboard gasoline or diesel engines, and the robust HD-Series (up to 600A continuous) intended for large diesel engines. This m-Series is specifically adapted for managing a single battery to a load bank, offering a targeted alternative for less complex electrical needs or as an auxiliary switch in more elaborate configurations.
