Detailed description
Detailed description
The BLUE SEA e-Series ON/OFF 9004E battery switch is designed for reliable management of a single battery to a load group, specifically for inboard gasoline and diesel engines. It belongs to the e-Series range from Blue Sea Systems, offering a continuous capacity of 350 A and a maximum operating voltage of 48 V DC, distinguishing it from the m-Series models (300 A, 48 V DC) intended for outboards and small engines, and the HD-Series models (500-600 A, 32 V DC) for large diesels.
Technical specifications and protection
This battery switch delivers electrical performance with a cranking capacity of 1,200 A for 30 seconds and an intermittent capacity of 600 A for 5 minutes. The terminal studs are made of tin-plated copper, 3/8"-16 (M10), ensuring maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance. Their one-piece design reduces the risk of overheating, and their length of 22.22 mm (7/8") allows for multiple 4/0 AWG (95mm²) cable lugs. A tightening torque of 15.82 N·m (140 in-lb) is recommended for connections.
Safety and installation
The 9004E includes ignition protection, meeting UL 1500 and SAE J1171 standards, making it safe for installation on gasoline-powered boats. Its Alternator Field Disconnect (AFD) function protects the alternator diodes if the switch is turned OFF while the engine is running. The housing allows for surface or rear-panel mounting and is IP66 rated, providing protection against powerful water jets. It complies with American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) requirements for battery switches, is UL 1107 certified, and CE marked to ISO 8846.
