The C-MAP ANTARCTICA-MAX (M-AF-M003-MS) electronic chart provides complete mapping coverage of the entire Antarctic region. Designed for use with chartplotters and multifunction displays, this chart is part of the C-MAP MAX series, known for its accurate and up-to-date cartographic data suitable for various marine activities.
Cartographic Data and Compatibility
The AF-M003 chart is supplied on an mSD data carrier, inserted into an SD card adapter, ensuring easy installation. It primarily consists of proven vector charts, offering essential navigation information. Note that this version does not include satellite imagery, advanced oblique aerial imagery, or raster charts, which are typically found in the "plus" (+) formats of C-MAP products. The C-MAP electronic chart libraries receive semi-annual updates, integrating the latest information such as navigational warnings, updates to port facilities, and port services. C-MAP MAX charts are compatible with a wide range of chartplotters from brands such as Simrad, B&G, Lowrance, Raymarine, and Furuno.
Integrated Navigation Features
The C-MAP ANTARCTICA-MAX includes several features to enhance navigation safety and planning. The Dynamic NavAids system provides details on navigational aids, including their name, color, frequency, and light range. The Dynamic Tides & Currents functions offer accurate forecasts of the time, level, direction, and strength of currents and tides. The Guardian Alarm performs automatic forward-looking obstacle detection, alerting the user to potential hazards. Route-Check, an extension of the Guardian Alarm, enhances safety by flagging obstacles along the planned route. Detailed port and marina plans facilitate docking with precise layouts including berths and regulated zones. High-definition photos and diagrams of ports, marinas, and important navigation landmarks are also included. Depth and elevation data are displayed with color coding for visual distinction. The Perspective view provides an "overhead" view of the navigation area by tilting the display to 45 degrees. The C-Marina Port database contains detailed marina information (hours, contacts, services, photos). Finally, points of interest (POIs) and local road mapping, along with multilingual capability, complete the features of this chart.
