The CYCLOPS smarttune 7/8" is an innovative wireless load sensor designed to accurately measure in real time the tension of your boat's standing rigging. It is intended to replace existing turnbuckles, allowing you to record and reproduce the most efficient rigging settings. Its purpose is to optimize sail shape and improve racing performance in all conditions by contributing to rig balance and genoa shape indication.

The Smarttune 7/8" offers multiple connectivity options:

Smartphone app: It connects wirelessly via Bluetooth to the Smartfittings app, available on iOS and Android. Navigation electronics systems: It can integrate with navigation electronics systems via an optional Smartfittings Gateway box. Dedicated displays: It can connect directly to Vakaros Atlas 2 and Sailmon MAX displays.

Installing the Smarttune 7/8” requires replacing an existing turnbuckle. Here are the general steps:

Fully release the backstay and mainsheet. Secure the stay with a halyard to a solid point near the chainplate. Remove the pins or Velcro from the existing turnbuckle. Measure a reference length on the stay (for example, the distance between the ends of the stud inside the turnbuckle). Unscrew the existing turnbuckle using wrenches. Apply anti-seize paste to the threads. Install the Smarttune by screwing it onto the stay stud, ensuring correct orientation (model/series numbers must face upward). Continue screwing the sensor until reaching the previously measured reference length. Reinstall the pins or Velcro. Remove the safety halyards and readjust your rigging to your desired settings. It is recommended to consult the full installation guide before proceeding.

The Smarttune 7/8” is powered by 2 AAA batteries. Estimated battery life is approximately 16 months. The sensor will display a charge of 0.00, even under load, when the batteries need to be replaced.

To replace the batteries in your SmartTune 7/8” (which uses 2 AAA batteries), follow these steps:

It is strongly recommended to perform this operation in a dry, enclosed space, such as below deck.
Unscrew the 2 Phillips screws from each battery cover on the side of the sensor using a small Phillips screwdriver.
Lift the plastic cover without disturbing the gasket.
Check that the O-ring is correctly seated and lubricate it if necessary.
Remove the old batteries and replace them with 2 new AAA batteries.
Reattach the plastic cover and carefully locate the 2 screws, tightening them until the cover and screws are flush. Do NOT overtighten the screws.
Failure to maintain the watertight integrity of the battery cover will allow water ingress and cause permanent damage not covered by the warranty. Unscrewing or removing fasteners other than those required for battery replacement may damage the sensor and will void the warranty.

It is critical not to exceed the maximum working load (MWL) of the Smarttune 7/8. Exceeding this load may damage internal instrumentation and void the warranty. An overload up to 150% of the calibrated load can cause permanent damage to the sensor, requiring recalibration.

Yes, the SmartTune 7/8" housing is IP67 certified. This means it is protected against dust and can withstand temporary immersion in water (up to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes).

To add a Smarttune sensor to the Smartfittings mobile app, you will need to:
