For the electrical connection, you must pass the power cable through the gland of the base. Cut the cable to length, strip the ends of the 2 or 4 wires, then crimp the supplied red terminals. Then screw these terminals onto the connection terminals located inside the fixture cavity using the supplied M3 screws and star washers.

Can I mount this light on a vertical surface?

For mounting on a vertical surface (on edge), you must use a specific stainless steel bracket. Mantagua offers the bracket referenced CCMAFF00009 for this purpose.
