Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for digital radio reception at sea, the FUSION DAB module with integrated antenna (part number 010-01953-10) provides a complete solution for accessing DAB and DAB+ broadcasts on compatible marine audio systems. This module covers Band III frequencies (174 to 240 MHz) and supports transmission mode I, ensuring multi-region compatibility (EU, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand). Its -97 dBm sensitivity ensures stable reception under various conditions. The module operates on an input voltage of 10.8 to 16 V DC and delivers an antenna output voltage of 8 to 15 V DC, with a maximum current of 50 mA.
Integration and audio performance
The FUSION MS-DAB100A module improves sound quality by eliminating background noise, hiss, crackling, and overlaps commonly associated with analog broadcasts. When connected to a compatible FUSION stereo system, it displays station information, program type, and DLS (Dynamic Label Segment) data directly on the screen, simplifying navigation. This module is compatible with a range of FUSION head units, including MS-UD650, MS-AV650, MS-UD750, MS-AV750, MS-RA70, MS-RA70N, MS-BB100, Apollo RA770, Apollo RA670, and MS-RA210. A software update may be required to enable the DAB source.
Integrated antenna and marine robustness
The supplied antenna features a robust design with IEC 60529 IPX7 waterproof rating, while the module itself is rated IPX3 (when installed with connectors facing downward). The antenna has a 10-meter cable length and a 74 mm diameter base, with maximum dimensions (whip antenna and base) of 248 × 110 mm. It offers a typical LNA gain of 22 dB and a 50-ohm impedance. Antenna mounting options include a standard 1-inch mast mount or surface mounting via double-sided adhesive or threaded studs with wing nuts. The module weighs 103 g and the antenna 170 g (excluding cable). The safe distance from the compass is 5 cm, ensuring interference-free integration on marine dashboards.
