Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding marine applications, the AIRMAR® B175M through-hull transducer from Garmin with a 12° tilt is a 1 kW bronze CHIRP solution. It is optimized for fiberglass and wood hulls with a deadrise angle between 8° and 15°. This transducer delivers detailed sonar images and accurate depth and water temperature data.
CHIRP Technology and Sonar Performance
The B175M uses mid-frequency CHIRP technology, operating on a 50 kHz bandwidth between 85 kHz and 135 kHz. This frequency range provides excellent target resolution and clear returns for fish and underwater structure identification in mid-water or deeper conditions. Its 1 kW RMS power and conical beam width ranging from 16° to 11° give it a maximum range of 457 meters (1,500 feet). It also features Garmin’s patented Xducer ID® technology for automatic identification with compatible fishfinders.
Tilted Element™ Design and Installation
The Tilted Element™ design incorporates a ceramic element mounted at a 12° angle inside the bronze housing. This tilt compensates for the hull’s deadrise angle, ensuring the transducer element is oriented horizontally for optimal echo detection without requiring a fairing block. The low-profile housing, which protrudes less than 1/4 inch (approximately 6 mm) below the hull, simplifies storage and trailer transport without risk of damage. Installation requires a 95 mm (3-3/4") hole for fiberglass or wood hulls. A Mix and Match™ version is available with a 9-meter cable and a 1-meter adapter, while the standard version typically comes with an 8-pin Garmin connector.
