Detailed description
Detailed description
The GARMIN AIRMAR® SS60 through-hull transducer with 0° tilt is designed to provide accurate depth and water temperature readings. Made of stainless steel, it is suitable for fiberglass and wooden hulls, ensuring durable integration in various marine environments. This model is particularly well-suited for boats up to 8 meters (25-26 feet) in length.
Sonar Performance and Frequencies
This transducer operates on two frequencies: 50 kHz and 200 kHz. The 50 kHz frequency offers a 45° beam width and a depth capability of up to 366 meters (1,200 feet). For more detailed detection, the 200 kHz frequency provides a 12° beam width and a depth range of up to 213 meters (700 feet). With a power output of 600 W, the SS60 ensures improved sonar image clarity and reduced signal interference.
Design and Installation
The AIRMAR® SS60 features Tilted Element™ technology with a ceramic element fixed at a 0° angle. This design corrects hull deadrise angles from 0° to 7°, directing the beam straight downward for maximum echo returns and accurate readings without requiring a fairing block. Its low profile, with only 5 mm (3/16") of extension below the hull, minimizes drag and does not affect the boat’s navigation performance. It is compatible with all hull materials, including fiberglass and wood. Installation requires a 60 mm (2-3/8") hole for fiberglass or wooden hulls, and 70 mm (2-3/4") for metal hulls. The transducer weighs approximately 1.4 kg (3 lb) and comes with a 10-meter (33-foot) cable. It is equipped with an 8-pin connector for compatibility with Garmin fishfinders; an adapter cable may be required for Garmin fishfinders with 6-pin connectors.
