Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed to ease technological transition, the Garmin BlueNet™ 30 Gateway connects existing Garmin Marine Network devices to next-generation Garmin chartplotters or BlueNet networks. This gateway ensures full communication and system integration, allowing you to modernize your installation without replacing all equipment. BlueNet technology supports network connection speeds up to 1 Gbps, optimizing video stream management, high resolutions, and integration of advanced sensors.
Network Integration and Compatibility
The Garmin BlueNet™ 30 Gateway is essential for communication between older Garmin Marine Network devices (such as chartplotters, fishfinders, radars, and Fusion units) and the new BlueNet ecosystem. It enables sharing of information like user data, mapping, and sonar data across the integrated network. BlueNet technology uses standard network protocols and requires minimal configuration. It is also compatible with third-party devices, including IP cameras, without needing a Garmin Marine Network PoE isolation coupler.
Technical Specifications and Installation
The Garmin BlueNet™ 30 Gateway requires a 12–24 V DC power source. It is recommended to connect it via ignition or a physical switch to prevent battery drain, as the device continues to draw power even when the system is off. Garmin BlueNet network cables feature compact, water-resistant connectors designed for simplified routing and installation. They include 4 twisted pairs for data transmission and Wake on LAN (WoL) functionality. Legacy Garmin Marine Network cables use larger connectors, similar to standard RJ45s, with 2 twisted pairs for data and 2 for power. Note that only one BlueNet 30 gateway should be installed in a mixed network for optimal performance. BlueNet devices must be connected on one side of the gateway, and all legacy Garmin Marine Network devices on the other. Mount the device in a location not exposed to extreme temperatures or harsh conditions, with adequate ventilation to prevent heat buildup.
