Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin GMR 434 xHD3 radar is an open-array detection solution with a 4-foot array, designed for offshore navigation and fishing. It delivers 4 kW of transmit power and a minimum detection range of 20 meters up to 72 nautical miles. The radar integrates advanced technologies to improve target visibility and image clarity.
Imaging and Detection Technology
Equipped with a 122 cm open-array antenna, the GMR 434 xHD3 features a horizontal beam width of 1.8 degrees and a vertical beam width of 23 degrees. Rotation speeds of 24 and 48 rpm ensure rapid screen refresh. Scan Averaging technology filters sea clutter and interference, while the angular adjustment of target size optimizes their display. True Echo Trails functions display the history of vessel movements, facilitating collision threat identification.
Advanced Features and Integration
This radar supports dual-range with overlay, displaying both near and far targets simultaneously on a compatible chartplotter, with the option to overlay these images on the chart. Dynamic Auto Gain adjusts gain levels for various conditions, while Bird Mode Auto Gain helps locate fish schools. The MARPA target tracking can track up to 30 targets to avoid collisions (requires additional sensors). A configurable guard zone alerts the user when an object enters it. The GMR 434 xHD3 also offers variable range markers and electronic bearing lines for quick measurements.
Physical and Electrical Specifications
The GMR 434 xHD3 radar is rated IPX6 for water resistance and supports a maximum wind load of 80 knots (100 knots with the optional GMR voltage converter). It operates on a 11 to 32 V DC power supply. Power consumption is 18 W in standby and 55 W during typical transmission. The antenna dimensions are 1325 x 122 x 170 mm and the pedestal dimensions are 520 x 328 x 314 mm. The total weight is 27.6 kg.
