Garmin GMS 10 network port expansion module

The GMS 10 module is designed to operate within a temperature range of -15°C to 70°C (+5°F to 158°F).

The GMS 10 module requires a 10 to 35 V DC power supply. Its maximum power consumption is 2.75 watts. It is protected by a 2.0 amp AGC/3AG fuse located on the red wire of the power cable.

Install the GMS 10 module in a location away from high-traffic areas where network cables can easily reach your marine network devices and the module. If you plan to add other modules later, ensure you have enough space.

To connect an ethernet cable:

Unscrew the protective cap of a network port by turning it counterclockwise. Connect the ethernet cable to the port by aligning the cable head with the opening, using the black arrow on top of the cable head as a guide. Tighten the cable cap to prevent it from loosening due to vibrations.

The 7-pin power cable includes a red wire and a black wire. Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal of your battery or fuse block, and the black wire to the negative (-) terminal. It is important not to remove the 2.0 amp AGC/3AG fuse located on the red wire.

The optional mounting hardware kit included with the GMS 10 contains two brackets with two screws/nuts per bracket, for attaching the brackets to the unit. However, the screws for mounting the unit to your boat are not included.

Three LEDs appear above each network port on the GMS 10:

LNK/ACT: Lit means a link is established; flashing indicates network activity.
DUP/COL: Lit means the connected device is operating at full network capacity; off or flashing means it is operating at half capacity.
100: Lit means the network port is operating at 100 megabits per second; off means 10 megabits per second.

Yes, the GMS 10 is designed to transmit control signals to turn on and off sensors (such as the Garmin marine weather/audio satellite receiver). Thus, when you turn on or off a chartplotter connected to the GMS 10, all sensors also connected to the module will automatically turn on or off.

You can use the factory-drilled holes to mount the GMS 10. If the selected mounting location prevents you from using these holes, you can use the brackets included in the optional mounting kit.
