Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for sailboats and powerboats, the Garmin GDT™ 43 through-hull transducer provides accurate depth and water temperature measurements. This system is an essential component for reliable marine data acquisition, integrating directly into existing NMEA 2000® networks.
Performance and Technical Integration
The GDT™ 43 transducer operates at a 200 kHz sonar frequency, capable of reaching a maximum depth of 275 m (900 ft), making it suitable for a wide range of nautical applications. It delivers water temperature readings within an operating range of -10 to 70°C for the transducer itself, and -15 to 70°C for the NMEA 2000 adapter. The adapter, measuring 101.4 x 116.3 x 76.2 mm, enables plug-and-play connectivity to the NMEA 2000 network, with a required power supply of 9 to 16 Vdc and a maximum power consumption of 2.4 W. The transducer cable is 6 m (19.7 ft) long, offering installation flexibility.
Positioning and Compatibility
The Garmin GDT™ 43 is positioned as a preferred solution for upgrading or outfitting new vessels. It is specifically designed for hulls with a deadrise angle between 0 and 20 degrees, ensuring optimal performance. A distinctive advantage of this transducer is its ability to directly replace existing Nexus and Silva 43 mm (TH43) through-hull transducers, simplifying retrofit processes for vessel owners equipped with these systems. Its flush through-hull design minimizes hydrodynamic drag, a critical factor for speed and efficiency, distinguishing it from transom-mount transducers.
