Detailed description
The Humminbird APEX 19 - MEGA SI+ - Transom-Mount Sonar + Temperature combo is an advanced solution for navigation and underwater detection. It integrates MEGA Side Imaging+ and MEGA Down Imaging+ sonar technologies, complemented by Dual Spectrum CHIRP, for high-resolution visualization of structures and fish. Designed for intuitive use, it features a touchscreen interface and extensive connectivity.
Advanced Sonar Technologies
The APEX 19 uses MEGA Side Imaging+ sonar with precise beams oriented at a right angle to the boat’s path. These beams provide detailed cross-sections of the seabed for high-resolution imaging. In MEGA Imaging+ mode, it offers a lateral range of up to 152 meters (500 feet) at frequencies of 1050–1175 kHz. In 455 kHz mode (405–505 kHz), the lateral range reaches up to 244 meters (800 feet).
The MEGA Down Imaging+ sonar directs ultra-precise downward beams for high-definition imaging. In MEGA Imaging+ mode, it provides a depth capability of up to 76 meters (250 feet) at frequencies of 1100–1200 kHz.
The Dual Spectrum CHIRP delivers a conical coverage directly beneath the boat, with default frequencies from 150 kHz to 220 kHz. Its depth capability is 365 meters (1200 feet) and can reach 1524 meters (5000 feet) with an optional transducer.
Connectivity and Navigation Functions
This unit integrates comprehensive communication options, including Bluetooth, NMEA 2000 (LEN: 2), dual Ethernet, and Wi-Fi, enabling seamless interconnection with various marine equipment. It supports AIS and MARPA target management, requiring an AIS receiver or radar, a GPS receiver, and a heading sensor. A GPS receiver (internal or external) is required for navigation functions such as waypoint, route, and track creation, as well as ground speed over ground (SOG) and distance traveled.
Configurable alarms cover system voltage, heading loss, drift limits, depth (shallow water, deep water, fish detection), water temperature, and engine data via NMEA 2000 (fuel level, engine temperature, oil level, coolant level). The APEX 19 combo draws 4.4 Amps of current. For optimal installation, a safety distance of 1.2 meters (4 feet) from a compass or any other magnetic equipment is recommended.
