Designed for luxury marine installations, the JL Audio M6-880X-L-SbSb 8.8-inch (224 mm) coaxial marine speaker delivers high-fidelity audio. This 2-way model features a continuous power rating (RMS) of 125 W and a peak power rating of 250 W. It is compatible with a recommended amplifier power output of 50 to 250 W per channel and has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.
Audio performance and acoustics
With a frequency response of 38 Hz to 20,000 Hz (± 3 dB) and a sensitivity of 90.5 dB at 1 W/1 m, the M6-880X-L-SbSb ensures extended sound coverage. The oversized 1.25-inch (32 mm) silk dome tweeter is optimized for higher frequencies, providing clarity and seamless integration with the 8.8-inch woofer. The woofer features an injection-molded polypropylene cone with mica reinforcement (MIPP) and a synthetic rubber surround.
Low-frequency optimization
The 8.8-inch speakers offer a cone surface area 36% larger and nearly double the excursion capability compared to 7.7-inch coaxial systems. This results in up to +6 dB gain in low-frequency output. This performance delivers bass without requiring a dedicated subwoofer, simplifying installation.
Marine-grade protection and durability
A passive 2-way multi-order crossover is integrated and concealed within the woofer frame, protecting it from vibration and corrosion. An automatic tweeter protection circuit is also included to minimize failure risks. The M6-880X-L-SbSb speakers are built for marine environments, exceeding international standards for salt fog and UV resistance, with materials resistant to moisture and salt.
Design and manufacturing
The design includes a black Luxe grille and a black trim ring. The outer frame measures 260 mm (10.25 inches), the mounting diameter is 219 mm (8.625 inches), and the mounting depth is 160 mm (6.30 inches). The grille has a front protrusion of 12 mm (0.48 inch). The M6 speakers are manufactured at JL Audio’s factory in Miramar, Florida, using globally sourced components and materials.
