JL Audio M3-770X-S-Gm-i flush-mount marine speakers

Designed for the marine environment, the JL Audio M3-770X-S-Gm-i 7.7-inch coaxial marine speakers provide a robust and high-performance audio solution. These 2-way speakers are optimized for outdoor use, ensuring clear and powerful sound reproduction on the water. They combine a continuous power rating of 70 watts RMS with a maximum musical power of 225 watts, delivering dynamic sound even at high volumes. Their Gunmetal "Sport" grilles feature integrated RGB LED lighting for customizable onboard lighting ambiance.

Robust Marine-Grade Construction

The JL Audio M3-770X-S-Gm-i speakers are specifically designed to withstand marine conditions. Their construction exceeds industry standards for salt fog and UV exposure resistance, making them impervious to seawater and corrosion. The UV- and corrosion-resistant polymer woofer baskets encapsulate the motor systems for enhanced corrosion protection. The injection-molded polypropylene woofer, filled with mica and UV inhibitors, is paired with a synthetic rubber surround. The 0.75-inch (3/4") silk dome tweeter delivers detailed high-frequency reproduction.

Audio Performance and Integration

With a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and an efficiency of 90.5 dB at 1 W/1 m, these speakers deliver an extended frequency response from 45 Hz to 25 kHz (± 3 dB). The 7.7-inch size provides increased efficiency and mid-bass response compared to 6.5-inch marine speakers. The woofers are optimized using JL Audio’s proprietary DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis) technology, reducing distortion and improving transient performance and bass quality. An integrated 2nd-order passive crossover for the tweeters, with semiconductor protection circuitry, manages frequency distribution. Designed for infinite baffle applications, they require a minimum air volume of 57 liters (2 cubic feet) for optimal performance.

Integrated RGB LED Lighting

The M3-770X-S-Gm-i speakers feature multicolor RGB LED lighting integrated into the grilles. This requires a separate 12 V wiring harness for each speaker. Wiring can be configured to achieve up to seven fixed LED colors. For adjustable and extended color control, an external RGB lighting controller (sold separately, such as the JL Audio MLC-RW) is required. A 150 mA fast-blow inline fuse must be installed on the positive LED wire for each speaker to protect the LEDs and speaker from excessive electrical currents.
