Detailed description
Detailed description
The JL Audio MV1000/5i marine amplifier is a 5-channel Class D solution designed for marine environments. It features JL Audio’s NexD2™ technology, the second generation of high-speed switching, and an integrated digital signal processor (DSP) for precise and efficient audio amplification.
Audio performance and power
This amplifier delivers a total RMS power of 1000 watts. It provides 75 watts RMS x 4 channels + 400 watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms, and 100 watts RMS x 4 channels + 600 watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms. In bridged mode, it reaches 200 watts RMS x 2 channels at 4 ohms + 600 watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms. Its frequency response ranges from 12 to 24,000 Hz, with a total harmonic distortion (THD) of 1%.
Integrated DSP and TüN™ configuration
The MV1000/5i is equipped with a 24-bit/96 kHz DSP, enabling full configuration of inputs and outputs. All amplifier settings and DSP features—including input routing, gain controls with clip indication, adjustable high-pass, low-pass, and band-pass filters, a 10-band equalizer, phase and polarity control, and time alignment—are managed via JL Audio’s TüN™ software. This software is accessible via USB from a computer. For tablets or smartphones, it is accessible via Bluetooth using an optional accessory (VXi-BTC).
Robust design for marine environments
Housed in a compact die-cast alloy chassis, the amplifier features a marine-grade powder-coated finish, corrosion-resistant connectors and hardware, and a conformal-coated printed circuit board. These features enable it to withstand marine conditions. It achieves an IPX2 water resistance rating when mounted vertically with connections facing downward, meaning it can handle indirect splashes.
Connectivity and system integration
The amplifier has 8 configurable preamp/speaker-level inputs, accepting signals up to 16 volts RMS, and 6 processed analog preamp outputs (4V RMS max) with independent DSP processing. Its balanced differential analog inputs ensure noise rejection. It also includes DC offset or signal detection for automatic power-on. JLid™ connections allow for optional accessories like the M-DRC-50 or VXi-BTC for enhanced control and networking. Power requires 2 AWG maximum copper wire, with 4 AWG recommended, and an external 80-amp fuse is advised.
