Detailed description
The JL Audio MX280/4 marine amplifier is a four-channel audio solution designed for marine environments and power sports. This Class D amplifier delivers a continuous RMS power output of 50 W x 4 at 4 ohms or 70 W x 4 at 2 ohms at 14.4 V. In bridged mode, it provides 140 W RMS x 2 at 4 ohms at 14.4 V. At 12.5 V, the power output is 36 W RMS x 4 at 4 ohms, 52 W RMS x 4 at 2 ohms, or 100 W RMS x 2 bridged at 4 ohms.
Design and Durability
Featuring JL Audio’s high-speed switching NexD™ technology, this amplifier delivers efficient power without overloading the vehicle or vessel’s charging systems. Its compact die-cast aluminum chassis is engineered for high corrosion resistance. It carries an IPX7 waterproof rating, capable of withstanding immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes and powerful water jets. The construction includes a durable powder-coated finish, a sealed control cover, and stainless-steel hardware, ensuring enhanced durability in marine environments.
Advanced Audio Features
The MX280/4 offers a frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz (+0, -1 dB) and a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 89.5 dB. It features independent front and rear crossovers configurable as full-range, high-pass, or low-pass filters with a 12 dB/octave slope and adjustable frequency from 35 to 300 Hz. The dual-range input section accepts RCA signal voltages from 250 mV to 4 V RMS (low) or 750 mV to 15 V RMS (high), allowing flexible integration with various audio sources. The amplifier can be configured in 4-channel, 3-channel, or 2-channel bridged modes, providing versatility for different sound system architectures.
