Detailed description

The Kannad SafeLink Solo personal PLB beacon is designed for individual safety at sea and on land, offering a compact and high-performance emergency location solution. With dimensions of 36 x 50 x 112 mm and a weight of 164 g, it is easy to carry and integrate into your equipment.

Accurate and Rapid Location

Equipped with a multi-constellation GNSS receiver (GPS(L1)+GALILEO(E1) with 72 channels) and a ceramic patch antenna, the SafeLink Solo ensures accelerated global position detection. The "Bent Pipe" technology enables near-instant detection of the beacon’s signal, providing an average response time 46 minutes faster than legacy LEOSAR satellites. The first emergency message is transmitted 50 seconds after activation.

Transmission Performance and Battery Life

The beacon transmits on two frequencies: 406.031 MHz for alerts (5 W nominal power) and 121.5 MHz for homing (50 mW nominal power). Its lithium manganese battery provides over 24 hours of transmission at -20 °C and a 6-year shelf life. Activation is manual in three steps and includes self-diagnostics of transmitters, battery, and flash. A high-brightness LED flash with an SOS Morse code pattern is included for 30 operations.

Robust Design and Safety

The SafeLink Solo is waterproof to 10 meters for 5 minutes and operates within a temperature range of -20 to +55 °C, with storage temperatures from -30 to +70 °C. It is category 2 in buoyancy, meaning it does not float without its included floating pouch. This product contains a lithium metal battery (0.068 kg total net weight) and is subject to dangerous goods transport regulations (UN3091). Its use is subject to restrictions and/or licenses in certain European countries.

Expert opinion

Frequently Asked Questions

Need help? Contact us

Does the SafeLink Solo beacon float if it falls into the water?

No, the SafeLink Solo beacon is Category 2 and does not float by itself. However, it is supplied with a dedicated floating pouch to ensure buoyancy if submerged. It is essential to keep it in this pouch whenever you are near water to prevent loss.

How does the SafeLink Solo beacon ensure accurate and rapid location in an emergency?

The SafeLink Solo beacon is equipped with a multi-constellation GNSS receiver (GPS(L1)+GALILEO(E1) at 72 channels) and a ceramic patch antenna. This technology ensures accelerated worldwide position detection. Additionally, the "Bent Pipe" technology enables near-instantaneous detection of the beacon's signal, providing an average response time 46 minutes faster than the original LEOSAR satellites.

How and when should the battery of my SafeLink Solo beacon be replaced?

The battery of the SafeLink Solo beacon, which is a Lithium Manganese type, has a 6-year shelf life. After any activation of the beacon (other than self-diagnostic or GNSS test) or after the expiration of its shelf life, the battery must be replaced. This replacement must be carried out by an authorized service center. The top cover, which features a tamper-proof closure, must also be replaced after activation.

How can I check that my SafeLink Solo AIS MOB beacon is working properly?

You can run a self-test on your SafeLink Solo beacon. This test checks the transmitters, the battery, and the strobe light. To activate the TEST button, you must press firmly; if needed, use a blunt object such as a pencil.
