Detailed description
Detailed description
The Lowrance HALO20 radar is a compact radome system designed to enhance environmental awareness and collision avoidance. This model uses pulse compression technology, providing precise target detection and noise reduction. With a peak power of 10 W, it delivers a maximum range of 24 nautical miles and a minimum range of 6 meters.
Technology and performance
The HALO20 integrates Pulse Compression technology, which combines short- and long-range detection capabilities with improved target definition and minimal footprint. Unlike traditional pulse radars that require warm-up time, the InstantOn™ technology of the Lowrance HALO20 Radar ensures immediate activation from low-power standby mode. Its 20–24 rpm rotation speed provides rapid radar image updates. It operates on the X-band (9.4 to 9.5 GHz) and has a nominal horizontal beam width of 3.9° (-3 dB).
Design and integration
The Lowrance HALO20 Radar radome is waterproof to IPX6 standards, ensuring resistance to marine environments. Its compact design, with dimensions of 223.0 mm (H) x 510.0 mm (diameter) and a weight of 5.9 kg without cable, makes it suitable for space-limited boats, including small sportfishing boats and dayboats. It is compatible with 10.5 to 31.2 V DC power systems, consuming 3.9 W in standby and 17–20 W when operating at 13.8 V DC. The HALO20 is positioned as an entry-level option in the Lowrance HALO radar family, offering essential detection features compared to the HALO20+ model (36 NM range, 25 W power, up to 60 rpm rotation speed) and HALO24 model (48 NM range, up to 60 rpm rotation speed), which target higher range and responsiveness requirements.
