Detailed description
Detailed description
The XSONIC Airmar B60 (0°) through-hull transducer is a 600 W bronze transducer designed to provide accurate depth and water temperature readings. This model features a 0° tilted element, making it suitable for boats with a deadrise hull angle between 0° and 7°.
Detailed Sonar Performance
Equipped with dual frequencies of 50 kHz and 200 kHz, the XSONIC Airmar B60 offers versatility for various navigation and fishing conditions. At 50 kHz, it uses a wide 45° beam for deep penetration up to 353 m (1,200 ft). For shallower waters requiring higher resolution, the 200 kHz provides a narrow 12° beam with a maximum range of 206 m (700 ft). In addition to depth, it also ensures rapid water temperature detection.
Design and Installation
The B60’s bronze housing is recommended for fiberglass or wooden hulls. Its Tilted Element™ design eliminates the need for fairing blocks, as the ceramic element is pre-set to direct the sonar beam straight down, optimizing echo return. The low-profile transducer, with only 5 mm (3/16 in) extension outside the hull, minimizes drag. Installation requires a 60 mm (2-3/8 in) hole and is compatible with boats up to 8 m (26 ft) in overall length (LOA). The shaft length is 68.5 mm (2.70 in). The transducer weighs approximately 1.4 kg (3 lbs) and features a urethane acoustic window. A 1.8 m (6 ft) cable with a 9-pin XSONIC connector is included for integration with Navico displays (Lowrance and Simrad). Airmar certifies that applying a Foulfree coating does not affect transducer performance, providing protection against marine fouling.
