Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine 200 A, 50 mV battery shunt is an essential component for accurate battery system monitoring aboard. Designed to reliably measure direct current (DC), it collects data needed to track the state of charge and discharge of your battery banks. This shunt connects in series with the battery circuit and generates a voltage drop proportional to the current flowing through it, allowing a compatible battery monitor to precisely calculate amperage.
Integration and Functionality
This shunt is compatible with modern battery monitoring systems, including those based on NMEA 2000 networks such as Maretron’s OctoPlex system. Within such an ecosystem, the shunt provides current data to the battery monitoring module, which can then report this information (voltage, current, and with additional sensors, battery temperature) to multifunction displays (MFD) or dedicated user interfaces. Voltage, current, and temperature data (with additional sensors) can be used by the battery monitor to trigger configurable alarm thresholds, displayed via the MFD, providing direct visibility into battery health.
Technical Performance
With a 200-amp capacity and a 50-millivolt output at full load, this shunt is suitable for a wide range of marine applications, from small sailboats to vessels with more complex electrical systems. It provides a precise data foundation for energy management, helping optimize battery use and extend their lifespan. Continuous current monitoring enables users to understand consumption trends and identify potential anomalies in the vessel’s electrical system.
