Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine DST820 0° through-hull multifunction transducer provides essential depth, speed through water (STW), water temperature, and boat heel/pitch data. Designed for seamless integration into modern navigation systems, this transducer incorporates Airmar’s Gen2 paddlewheel technology for precise and responsive speed measurement, complemented by NMEA 2000 and Bluetooth® Low Energy connectivity.
Measurements and Performance
The DST820 measures depth at 235 kHz, offering a range from 0.5 m to 100 m with a refresh rate of once per second. For speed, the Gen2 paddlewheel delivers detection from 0.3 knots, linear accuracy from 0.6 knots, and stable readings up to 45 knots, with a 5.7 Hz output rate for smoother display. Water temperature is measured with ±0.5°C accuracy across a range of -10°C to 40°C. An integrated attitude sensor provides heel and pitch data with a nominal accuracy of ±1° after calibration, at a refresh rate of 10 times per second.
Connectivity and Calibration
This transducer features an NMEA 2000 (DeviceNet) interface with a standard 6 m cable and ships with a SeaTalkNG adapter for extended compatibility with Raymarine instruments. Bluetooth® Low Energy connectivity enables wireless calibration via the Airmar CAST™ mobile app. This app simplifies heel-compensated speed calibration (across multiple angles and up to 10 speeds), offset configuration, and attitude calibration—formerly achievable only with expensive PC software. The DST820 stores these calibrations and configurations internally.
Installation and Safety
Its P617V housing includes a self-sealing valve to minimize water ingress when removing the insert. The transducer operates on 9 VDC to 16 VDC, consuming less than 200 mA. It complies with UK PSTI safety standards, offering secure configuration via QR code and a unique password.
