Detailed description
The SSC300-01 is a Maretron/Raymarine solid-state electronic compass designed to provide stable heading data to navigation systems, autopilots, and radar overlay systems.
It combines a magnetometer, gyroscope, and 3-axis accelerometer. The SSC300 manual specifies heading accuracy better than 0.7° in static conditions, better than 1.5° in dynamic conditions, and pitch/roll accuracy better than 1° in static conditions.
Network integration
The SSC300 is NMEA 2000 certified and NMEA 0183 compatible. It connects directly to an NMEA 2000 network; NMEA 0183 output requires the appropriate accessory cable.
Installation
After mounting, the compass must be calibrated on the boat: offset correction, magnetic deviation, and heading data verification via the display or network. The IP67 housing is designed for marine environments, but the mounting location must remain clear of stray magnetic fields.
