Detailed description
Detailed description
The Simrad GS-25 GPS antenna is a high-performance positioning receiver designed to deliver optimal accuracy on modern marine networks. With a 32-channel receiver and a 10 Hz refresh rate, it ensures rapid and smooth updates of position, speed over ground (SOG), and course over ground (COG), ideal for high-speed navigation. Unlike standard GPS antennas, the GS-25 integrates a heading sensor providing magnetic heading data with an accuracy of +/- 3°, as well as yaw rate information (+/- 3°) and attitude data (roll/pitch to +/- 1°).
NMEA 2000 Integration and Performance
Designed for direct integration into an NMEA 2000 network via a Micro-C connector, this antenna stands out for its low power consumption (less than 2 W, or under 100 mA at 12 V DC) and a supply voltage tolerance of 9 to 18 V DC. With a cold acquisition time of 50 seconds and a 5-second satellite reacquisition time, it maintains a horizontal accuracy of 3 meters. While the GS-25 provides reliable heading data for radar overlay and chart orientation, Simrad recommends using a stabilized heading sensor, such as the Precision-9 compass, for more demanding applications like autopilot course-keeping in challenging conditions.
Robust Design for Marine Environments
With its compact 90 mm diameter and a weight of just 0.14 kg, the GS-25 antenna fits all mounting configurations, whether flush mount or standard pole mount. IPX7 certified, it withstands temporary immersion and operates reliably in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C, meeting the material requirements of the harshest marine environments.
