Detailed description
Detailed description
The Simrad HALO 2006 is an open array radar system designed for marine navigation, featuring advanced pulse compression technology. This system delivers high-resolution target detection and reliable navigation across conditions, from marinas to complex weather situations. It is compatible with Simrad chartplotters from the NSS, NSX, NSO, and GO series.
Advanced radar performance
The HALO 2006 delivers 50W of power, equivalent to a 12kW magnetron radar, ensuring effective short- and long-range coverage. It detects targets from as close as 6 meters and up to 72 nautical miles. The 6-foot open array antenna provides a beam width of 1.2° (±10% at -3 dB), which can be sharpened to 0.8° using Beam Sharpening mode. The radar offers adjustable rotation speeds from 16 to 48 RPM. Operating on 12/24V DC systems, it meets IPX6 waterproofing standards and functions in temperatures ranging from -25°C to 55°C. Typical power consumption is 45–60W at zero wind speed, peaking at 235W (at 12V) at maximum wind speed. Its solid-state technology enables instant startup from standby and in 16–25 seconds from power-on.
Key features for safety and detection
The Simrad HALO 2006’s pulse compression technology enhances target resolution and improves storm and hazard detection. Its dual-range capability allows monitoring of distant weather cells while keeping an eye on nearby channel markers and fast-moving vessels. Doppler VelocityTrack™ provides real-time visual feedback on target movement, color-coding potential collision threats. ZoneTrack™ tracks up to 50 targets within a defined area, displaying their course and speed data. Dangerous target alerts are issued for radar and AIS targets, highlighting their course, bearing, and range. Predefined modes (Harbor, Offshore, Weather, Birds) simplify operation without manual adjustments. Bird detection helps locate fish schools, and Beam Sharpening improves target clarity and separation.
