Simrad HALO 300X with RI-50 and 20 m cable, without antenna

The Simrad HALO 300X, RI50 pack includes the HALO 130W radar pedestal, the RI-50 interface and power box, and a 20-meter (65.5 ft) connection cable. Note that this pack does not include a radar antenna.

The HALO 300X radar system uses 130W pulse compression technology. This power is equivalent to that of a traditional 25 kW magnetron radar, delivering exceptional detection performance.

The Simrad HALO 300X radar offers an impressive detection range, capable of detecting targets 6 meters (20 feet) in size up to 96 nautical miles. This enables effective short- and long-range monitoring.

Pulse compression technology enables the HALO 300X radar to transmit longer pulses while maintaining high target resolution. This results in sharper radar images, better target separation, and improved detection—even in harsh weather—without sacrificing range.

The dual-range simultaneous function allows the HALO 300X radar to display two different detection ranges simultaneously on a single screen. For example, you can monitor distant weather conditions on a long range while keeping an eye on nearby channel markers or marine traffic on a short range.

The HALO 300X integrates intuitive preset modes to simplify its use. These modes include:

Harbour: Optimized for navigation in congested harbour zones.Offshore: Ideal for offshore sailing.Weather: Designed to detect and track weather fronts.Birds: Helps locate areas of bird activity, often an indicator of fish shoals.These modes automatically adjust the radar settings for optimal performance in specific conditions.

The ZoneTrack™ function enables automatic tracking of up to 50 vessels within two user-defined zones. The system automatically detects and displays the heading and speed of targets in these zones, improving situational awareness and effective monitoring of potential hazards.

The HALO 300X radar system is supplied with a 20-metre (approximately 65.5-foot) connection cable. This cable is designed to link the radar pedestal to the RI-50 interface unit.

The Simrad HALO 300X is a pedestal system designed for use with an open-array radar antenna (open array). It is not an enclosed dome radar.

The HALO 300X pedestal is compatible with Simrad open antennas specifically designed for the HALO series, available in different sizes (typically 3, 4 or 6 feet). It is essential to purchase an antenna separately as it is not included in this package.

The HALO 300X radar is compatible with modern Simrad multifunction displays, including the NSS evo3S, NSO evo3S series and GO series displays (with the latest software version). It is recommended to verify specific software compatibility with your MFD before installation.

The Simrad HALO 300X is designed to integrate optimally within a Simrad ecosystem. While limited interfacing via NMEA 2000 standards may be possible for some data, full radar functionality and display are guaranteed only with compatible Simrad multifunction displays.

The HALO 300X radar system, via its RI-50 interface box, requires a 12 or 24 V DC power supply. The RI-50 manages power distribution to the radar pedestal.

The RI-50 unit is both a power supply unit and a radar interface. It converts the boat's power supply into current suitable for the HALO 300X pedestal and also serves as a connection point for radar data to the ship's Ethernet network.

The 20-metre (65.5 ft) cable included is designed to cover a wide range of installations on vessels of various sizes. It typically allows connecting the radar pedestal, often mounted on a mast or arch, to the RI-50 interface box located inside the boat. For specific installations, it is always advisable to measure the required distance.

The HALO 300X radar connects to the boat's navigation network via a standard Ethernet connection. The supplied radar cable links the pedestal to the RI-50 interface box, which in turn connects to the Ethernet network to communicate with compatible multifunction displays.

While installation of the HALO 300X can be performed by experienced users, it is strongly recommended to have it carried out by a certified marine technician. This ensures the system is properly mounted, wired, and configured for optimal performance and safety, particularly regarding electrical and network connections.
