The Simrad HALO 6FT open array radar antenna (000-11466-001) is designed for demanding marine navigation, integrating solid-state X-Band transmission technology with pulse compression. This technology provides precise target detection at short and long range, improved target separation, and reduced interference. With a horizontal beam width of 1.2° for the 6ft antenna, it ensures detailed visualization of the maritime environment.
Detection Technologies and Performance
The HALO system stands out for its ability to operate in dual-range mode simultaneously, allowing users to monitor a nearby zone for collision avoidance and a distant zone for weather analysis or bird spotting. The antenna is compatible with HALO 2000 systems delivering 50W (equivalent to a 12kW magnetron radar) with a maximum range of 72 nautical miles, and with HALO 3000/3006 systems at 130W (equivalent to a 25kW magnetron radar) for a 96 nautical mile range. Antenna rotation speed is adjustable from 16 to 48 RPM, with 48 RPM for rapid updates. The Bird+ mode (HALO 3000/3006) optimizes bird detection up to 8 nm, useful for locating fish shoals.
Advanced Features and Integration
This radar integrates VelocityTrack™ Doppler technology, which uses color coding to identify approaching targets and facilitate collision avoidance. The ZoneTrack™ function allows tracking up to 50 targets within a defined zone, providing course and speed data. MARPA target tracking is also available for 10 targets (20 in dual-range mode). The HALO 6FT offers dedicated operating modes (harbour, offshore, weather, bird search) without manual adjustment. The InstantOn™ function eliminates warm-up times, ensuring immediate availability from standby and fast startup from power-on. The system is rated IPX6 for water resistance and operates on 12/24V power supplies with low power consumption. It communicates via Ethernet and allows masking of four different sectors to avoid unwanted reflections.
