The Simrad IS42 instrument display is a multifunction digital interface designed for viewing essential navigation data. It consolidates the display of wind data, boat speed, depth, engine parameters, autopilot status, and AIS data, providing an overview on a dedicated screen.
High-visibility display and robust design
The IS42 features a 4.1-inch (320 x 240 pixels, 4:3 aspect ratio) transflective TFT-LCD color screen with LED backlighting. Its optically bonded technology eliminates internal condensation and optimizes readability in full sunlight by utilizing ambient light. It offers a 170-degree viewing angle and adjustable illumination for day (white) and night (red, green, blue, or white). With dimensions of 118 x 115 x 28 mm and a weight of 0.32 kg, its discreet "glass helm" design integrates seamlessly into modern dashboards. Its IPX7 rating ensures resistance to temporary immersion, and it operates within a temperature range of -25°C to +65°C, supporting 100% RH humidity.
NMEA 2000® connectivity and extended features
This device connects via a single NMEA 2000® cable for power and data, with a maximum power consumption of 2.16 W (160 mA at 13.5 V) and a network load of 4 LEN. It supports numerous NMEA 2000 PGNs, including heading (127250), speed (128259), depth (128267), GPS data (129026), wind (130306), and engine parameters (127488). When paired with an optional OP12 keypad, the IS42 enables full control of compatible Simrad autopilot systems (AC12, AC42, NAC-2, NAC-3). It also includes advanced AIS data management, displaying targets and enabling radio calls via a compatible AIS receiver. The waterproof silicone buttons ensure reliable operation in various maritime conditions.
