Detailed description
Detailed description
The Simrad Pro R5000 radar processor is the core of a modular and scalable radar system, designed for commercial-grade radar solutions on SOLAS category 1 and 2 vessels, including high-speed craft. This "black-box" system is IMO-approved and offers extended networking capabilities along with advanced target detection functions.
Architecture and Connectivity
The R5000 is fully networkable, supporting up to four radar sensors, four master/slave consoles, and an unlimited number of "clone" stations. Multiple R5000 processors can be networked to create multi-radar systems and enable radar access from various stations. Connection to radar transceivers is via a thin Ethernet cable, simplifying routing and installation. The system is compatible with 24-inch or 27-inch wide displays and includes serial ports for input and output, compliant with IEC 61162.
Radar Performance and Target Tracking
The Simrad Pro R5000 radar processor provides instant display of tracking data for up to 100 active radar targets, with a background tracking capacity of 2,500 targets. It supports X-band and S-band radar solutions. The X-band radar offers high-resolution coverage and optimal target separation, with 12 kW or 25 kW transceivers and 6-, 9-, or 12-foot open-array antennas. The S-band radar, available in 30 kW with a 12-foot open-array antenna, is used as a secondary system on SOLAS vessels of 3,000 gross tons and above for superior target detection in adverse weather conditions such as rain or fog.
Advanced Features
Featuring a modern user interface with intuitive keyboard and trackball controls, the R5000 delivers a consistent experience. Its advanced digital signal processing improves target tracking and reduces clutter. Manual and automatic sea and rain clutter controls include predefined reduction filters and a self-adaptive algorithm. The system displays AIS targets, allows user-defined tracking zones for automatic target acquisition, and offers a trial maneuver function to predict target positions.
