Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for commercial marine applications, the Simrad Pro R5024 HALO 5006 CAT2(H) radar is an X-band solid-state pulse-compression system. It is specifically engineered to provide superior situational awareness and enhanced reliability, meeting IMO/SOLAS CAT 2 (H) classification standards for ships, including high-speed craft.
Performance and Technical Specifications
This system integrates a 6-foot open-array antenna and delivers 130 W output power, enabling a maximum detection range of up to 72 nautical miles. The solid-state technology eliminates the need for a magnetron and motor brushes, reducing operational and maintenance costs. The R5024 HALO 5006 can automatically track thousands of radar targets within a 24-nautical-mile zone and display up to 100 targets simultaneously. It features an integrated radar performance monitor to ensure optimal operation.
Advanced Features and Operational Modes
The radar offers selectable antenna speeds of 22 or 44 RPM, suited to varying sea conditions. Its design includes a high-quality gearbox capable of withstanding winds up to 100 knots, along with an antenna park position feature. Features such as beam sharpening improve radar image clarity. It provides multiple operational modes, including Port, Offshore, Weather, and a dedicated Bird Finder Mode for locating diving birds within a six-nautical-mile radius. The dual-range function allows independent display and control to monitor both close and distant targets simultaneously.
Integration and Reliability
The system starts quickly, requiring 16 to 25 seconds. It operates silently thanks to helical gear design. Directional reduction of sidelobes enhances visibility of small targets near large structures. The system supports sector blanking for up to four sectors at any angle and complies with low electromagnetic emissions standard ITU-R SM.1541-4. Its modular design enables flexible installation for standalone radar systems or multi-installation network configurations. The radar operates within the X-band frequency range of 9.4 to 9.5 GHz, with a minimum range of 6 m. It is IPX6 waterproof, supports an operating temperature range of -25° to +55°C, and relative humidity of 95% at +35°C. Connectivity is via 100Base-T Ethernet.
