Detailed description

The Standard Horizon HX891BT/E (SKU STH-SSM64A) VHF marine transceiver is designed to optimize onboard communication by providing a portable VHF marine transceiver from the HX series. This transceiver allows users to transmit and receive voice communications without handling the device, improving safety and efficiency during harbour manoeuvres or other tasks requiring both hands.

Built-in VOX functionality

The HX891BT/E transceiver supports VOX (Voice Operated eXchange) for hands-free use with a compatible Bluetooth® headset (such as the SSM-BT20 mentioned in the manual), automatically activating transmission when the user speaks and deactivating it in the absence of voice. This technology is particularly useful in a marine environment where concentration on navigation and handling equipment is paramount. The HX891BT/E transceiver benefits from this capability for seamless, uninterrupted communications.

Compatibility and integration

The HX891BT/E transceiver is a model from Standard Horizon’s HX series. The manual mentions the SSM-BT20 Bluetooth® headset for VOX hands-free operation with the HX891BT/E. This feature provides a practical solution for sailors seeking complete freedom of movement while staying connected.

Expert opinion

«
