Designed for Victron Energy systems, the ASS070200100 cable enables integration of the Smart BMS CL 12-100 and smallBMS with MultiPlus inverters/chargers lacking a VE.Bus interface. This solution is intended for MultiPlus models 500VA – 1600VA, MultiPlus Compact 800VA – 2kVA, and MultiPlus-II, providing essential control of these devices via the BMS.
Integration and Compatibility
The ASS070200100 cable facilitates communication between the specified BMS (Smart BMS CL 12-100 and smallBMS) and compatible MultiPlus inverters/chargers using the BMS load/alternator disconnect outputs. While products like the Cerbo GX or other Victron BMS with a VE.Bus interface offer full digital integration, this cable addresses the specific need to connect BMS units without VE.Bus, such as the Smart BMS CL 12-100, to older or specific-range MultiPlus models. This approach allows control of MultiPlus power-on and power-off based on battery status monitored by the BMS.
Detailed Wiring Instructions
Installation of the ASS070200100 cable requires precise connection to the MultiPlus remote on/off connector. For MultiPlus 500VA-1200VA models, the black wire connects to the ON terminal and the red wire to the (+) terminal. For MultiPlus Compact 800VA-2kVA models, the black wire must connect to the center terminal and the red wire to the right terminal (IN). For MultiPlus-II models, the black wire connects to the lower terminal (-) and the red wire to the upper terminal (+) of the remote on/off connector. For the MultiPlus to operate, the Load/Charge Disconnect outputs of the Smart BMS CL 12-100 or Load/Charger outputs of the smallBMS must be in a "High" state. After a shutdown due to low battery voltage, system restart is achieved using the alternator or a battery charger on the BMS primary side, allowing the MultiPlus to activate and resume charging if an AC power source is available.
