Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for managing grey water on board marine vessels and RVs, the Whale Gulper 220 - 24 V pump (part number BP1554) is specifically engineered for draining showers and sinks. This pump stands out for its ability to efficiently process wastewater without clogging risks, including residues such as hair, gels, nails, and food debris.
Filterless design and robustness
The Whale Gulper 220 incorporates Gulper valve technology and a large single diaphragm, eliminating the need for a filter. This design simplifies maintenance by removing any filter to clean or unclog. The pump can run dry without damage and can pump a mix of air and water, ensuring continuous flow. Its construction uses corrosion-resistant materials, including aluminum, fiberglass-reinforced nylon for the body, acetal for the clamping ring, Santoprene® for the diaphragm, and nitrile for the valves, ensuring durability in marine environments. The fasteners are made of stainless steel and brass, and the EPDM feet contribute to quiet operation.
Technical performance and installation
The pump operates on 24 V DC with a flow rate up to 14 litres per minute (3.7 US gallons) and a typical flow of 3.5 GPM under load. Its maximum current draw is 1.75 amperes, with a dry-running current draw of 1.2 amperes, requiring a recommended 2.5 amp fuse. It is self-priming up to 3 metres (10 feet) and offers a maximum suction and discharge head of 3 metres. The fittings are 3/4" and 1" barbed. Weighing 1.5 kg, the Gulper 220 is CE, IP45 certified and compliant with ISO 10133, ISO 8846 (ignition-protected), ISO 8849, ISO 15083, and ABYC H-22 standards. Its multidirectional head swivels 360°, facilitating installation in tight spaces, and it can be mounted horizontally or vertically (with the pump head in the lower position for vertical installation). Note that this pump is not suitable for pumping diesel fuel.
