Designed for modern sailing, the Actisense W2K-1 interface is a compact NMEA 2000 to Wi-Fi gateway optimized for data transfer to mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones. It stands out for its ability to function simultaneously as an integrated voyage data logger, offering a two-in-one solution for connectivity and marine data analysis.
Connectivity and Data Versatility
The W2K-1 provides bidirectional conversion of NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 data, ensuring broad compatibility with a wide range of navigation software and applications. It also supports broadcasting NMEA 2000 and RAW CAN data via Wi-Fi, using up to three separate data servers (TCP and UDP). Its IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi module operates on the 2.4 GHz band, with a range of approximately 30 meters in open space and a throughput of up to 150 Mbps. For power, the device uses the NMEA 2000 bus, with an average consumption of 70 mA at 12 VDC (2 LEN).
Integrated Voyage Data Logging
A major feature of the Actisense W2K-1 interface is its voyage data logging function. Supplied with a preinstalled 8 GB industrial micro SD card, it can be expanded up to 128 GB. This capacity allows for approximately 16 days of navigation data recording, with battery life ranging from 4 to 100 days depending on network load and configured filtering options. This feature is particularly useful for post-navigation analysis, troubleshooting, or optimizing vessel performance, positioning the W2K-1 as a more complete alternative than Wi-Fi gateways alone, which lack native logging capabilities.
Robust Design and Advanced Features
The W2K-1 interface is housed in a rugged IP67-rated enclosure, providing protection against temporary immersion and dust, making it suitable for demanding marine environments. Its compact dimensions of 106 mm x 73 mm x 24 mm and weight of 80 g facilitate discreet integration. The device offers flexible Wi-Fi operation, acting as an access point or connecting to an existing network in client mode. Diagnostic LEDs provide visual feedback on NMEA 2000 bus activity and Wi-Fi status. The included Actisense-i diagnostic tools allow checking NMEA 2000 bus voltage and the status of connected devices, while firmware updates can be performed remotely.
