Graphic designer of offshore racing sailboats for 20 years
Jean-Baptiste Epron is a graphic designer specializing in visual branding for racing sailboats. He designs liveries, integrates partner logos, and crafts the visual identity of boats — not their structure or ergonomics. A former racer (two Jules Verne Trophies on Orange, two Solitaires du Figaro, last competitive season in 2009), he works from Paris, Lorient, and Finistère.
The profession
He takes the hull designed by the naval architect (Verdier, VPLP, Manuard, Lombard...) and turns it into a visible medium for sponsors: color choices, logo placement, patterns integrated into the hull and sails. Two to three months of work per project, fees from €1,000 to €30,000 depending on boat size and order complexity.
