Grand Largue Composites
The epoxy infusion workshop in Caen, from the Class40 Legallais to Multiplast's decks
Foundation
Grand Largue Composites was founded in 2007 on the Calix basin in Caen (Mondeville, Calvados) by Xavier Gosselin and Jean-François Lilti, following the construction of the Avocet 50 catamaran. Today, Xavier Gosselin runs a facility with around half a dozen permanent employees, supplemented by specialists brought in for specific projects.
Technical specialty
The workshop specializes in epoxy infusion for small and medium-sized components, where most of the marine market still relies on polyester. It has out-of-autoclave (OOA) capabilities and self-heating molds up to 200 °C, opening doors to industrial and aeronautical markets.
Marine accounts for about 65% of activity, with the remainder split between aeronautics and industry.
Caen ecosystem
The yard collaborates closely with neighboring structures on the Caen basin — V1D2, Shoreteam Yard, Normandy Yacht Service — on optimizations and refits of boats exiting the workshop.
