Sangiorgio Marine
The young Genoese Class40 yard Musa 40
Foundation and location
Sangiorgio Marine was founded in November 2021 in Genoa by Edoardo Bianchi, a naval engineer who previously worked at Persico Marine and an Olympic regatta sailor in Tornado (Athens 2004, Beijing 2008). The yard occupies a 4,400 m² covered site (57 m in length) with an 8 m draft quay, capable of accommodating projects up to 100 feet.
The Musa 40 and its designer
The yard’s first project is the Class40 Musa 40, designed by naval architect Gianluca Guelfi in collaboration with skipper Ambrogio Beccaria. The lead boat, Alla Grande Pirelli (Beccaria), was launched in August 2022 and immediately secured a 2nd place in the 2022 Route du Rhum, then won the 2023 Transat Jacques Vabre and The Transat CIC 2024.
In December 2024, the yard launched a second generation, the Musa 40 Evolution: unchanged hull but new rudders, new keel, optimized steering system and revised mast step structure. Six Musa 40s are entered in the 2025 Transat Café L'Or.
Beyond the Class40
Sangiorgio Marine has invested in a new autoclave (3 m in diameter, 9 m in length) and aims to build IMOCAs and large trimaran components. The yard notably produced a hydrogen-powered chase boat for American Magic (37th America’s Cup) in collaboration with Bluegame.
