Thierry Eluère

The Arcachon-based yard that built the IMOCA Safran sailed by Marc Guillemot

Thierry Eluère is a French naval architect, former manager of the Chantier Naval de Larros (CNL), based in Gujan-Mestras, on the Bassin d'Arcachon. The yard was founded in 2001 with Yves Parlier and Didier Cazeaux, and specialized in building race boats and composite boat components.

Offshore racing and composite construction

CNL built the IMOCA Safran (2007, VPLP-Verdier design) skippered by Marc Guillemot — 3rd in the 2008-2009 Vendée Globe. The yard also worked on the arms of Yves Le Blevec's Actual 50' trimaran and Gitana II. In 2009, it launched a pultruded carbon mast production line with Epsilon Composite.

Yard closed since 2017

CNL was struck off on May 18, 2017 (closure due to insufficient assets, Bordeaux commercial court). Thierry Eluère had left management in 2010, replaced by Michel Douville de Franssu until closure. This page is retained for historical traceability of boats that left the yard.
