V1D2

The Normandy yard that finishes Class40 sailboats built by Grand Largue Composites

V1D2 is a boatyard located in Mondeville, on the Caen to the Sea canal, a few minutes from Grand Largue Composites. Founded in 1999 by Marc Lefebvre, it has been the main technical base in Normandy for over twenty years for the maintenance and assembly of offshore racing sailboats: Class40, IMOCA 60-footers, Mini.

The craft

The yard has about 900 m² of storage and 600 m² of workshop space, including a paint booth and a keel pit. Its specialty: taking a hull and deck molded by neighboring Grand Largue Composites, manufacturing the keel and rudders, installing all the mechanics, electronics, and fittings, then delivering a race-ready boat. V1D2 also handles refits and technical support during the season for sailors based in Caen.

Acquisition by SNIP Yachting (October 2023)

In mid-October 2023, V1D2 was acquired by SNIP Yachting, a nautical group based in Ouistreham that now operates three sites (Ouistreham, Mondeville/V1D2, Arzal). Marc Lefebvre supported the transition for at least a year while continuing to assist sailors. The v1d2.fr site now redirects to snip-yachting.com.
