Guillaume L'Hostis, nicknamed « Junior », is from Fouesnant. Optimist at age 6, Laser in high school at the performance sailing center, then offshore racing training at the Institut Nautique de Bretagne. He joined Alternative Sailing (La Trinité-sur-Mer) as an apprentice for two years, then was hired there. Eight years total with the team, including a base manager position in Martinique until 2022. Since May 2024, he has been the official skipper of the Class40 Alternative Sailing / Constructions du Belon.

Mini 6.50: the formative years

Before the Class40, Guillaume honed his skills in the Mini 6.50 class aboard the 868 Alternative Sailing - Constructions du Belon. In 2018, he finished 2nd in the Duo Concarneau with Tanguy Bouroullec. In 2019, he completed the Mini-Transat in 11th place out of 65 boats in the production class. In 2021, he reunited with Bouroullec on the Pogo Foiler 969: victory at the Mini Fastnet in the prototype class, after a tight duel with the 1019 Teamwork.

Class40 196 Machouquette

The boat he has been skippering since 2024 is a Mach 40.5 #196 (hull name: Machouquette), design by Sam Manuard, built by JPS Production, launched in 2023. Regular co-skipper on double-handed races: Antoine Le Manchec. The duo completed the November 2025 Transat Café L'Or Le Havre-Martinique in 9th position in Class40, in 20 days 1 hour 16 minutes.

2025 season: 3rd in the Class40 championship

Guillaume finished 2025 on the Class40 championship podium, 3rd behind Sogestran-Seafrigo and Legallais. Consistency built race after race aboard a recent boat, against more experienced programs.
