YB Tracking Beacons: Choosing Between YB3 or YB3i

YB Tracking offers position-tracking beacons using the Iridium satellite network. The choice depends mainly on the onboard use: portable device or permanent installation. Tracking and messaging functions require activation and communication credits; check service terms before departure.

YB3 portable or YB3i fixed?

• YB3 portable: a standalone beacon to carry or move between uses. See the YB3 portable and its belt pouch.
• YB3i fixed: a beacon designed for permanent installation, powered by the vessel’s system. Check the mounting location, power supply, and cable length before choosing the 3 m cable version or the 5 m cable version.

What to check before installation?

Select a location with clear sky visibility for satellite reception, then verify the power source, cable routing, and how positions will be accessed or shared.
