Detailed description
Detailed description
The Evo tiller is one of the controls for ePropulsion’s Evo system, alongside the remote control, side control, and dual control. It mounts on the Navy 3.0 Evo, Navy 6.0 Evo, and Spirit 1.0 Evo outboards, which are delivered without any control. Unlike the Evo remote control, it also provides steering: no helm is required.
Functions
From the tiller, you can start and stop the motor, adjust power, configure the battery, and view system information. The screen displays the battery level (in percentage or voltage), GPS-measured speed, distance or elapsed and remaining time, as well as alerts for overheating, fan failure, and removed kill cord.
Specifications
The tiller communicates with the motor exclusively via wired connection and draws its power from it: it has no internal battery. It weighs 1.2 kg according to ePropulsion’s spare parts base (1.1 kg in the 2021 installation guide), with dimensions of 513 × 90 × 114 mm. It attaches to the motor, then the handle is inserted and locked—clockwise on Navy Evo models and counterclockwise on Spirit 1.0 Evo.
Safety
The magnetic kill cord attaches to the tiller, and its lanyard secures to your wrist or lifejacket: if pulled, the motor stops. To restart, reattach the kill cord before restarting the motor. Two kill cords are supplied. Their magnetic field requires keeping them at least 50 cm away from medical implants such as pacemakers, and away from magnetic cards and certain electronic instruments.
