The Humminbird XPLORE12-PACK-MLI2 pack combines the XPLORE 12 display with the MEGA Live 2 transducer, providing an integrated solution for navigation and fish detection. The XPLORE 12 display is designed for 12 VDC power, requiring a 5 A slow-blow fuse for adequate electrical protection.

Installation and connectivity of the XPLORE 12 display

The XPLORE 12 display can be installed using a traditional bracket mount or a flush mount. Ensure sufficient space for screen tilt and drill a 31.75 mm (1 1/4") cable pass-through hole, positioned 50 to 100 mm (2 to 4") behind the chosen mounting location. The display comes with a 2 m (6 ft) power cable. For cable extensions, use 12 AWG multistrand copper wire for lengths from 1 to 12 ft, and 10 AWG for lengths from 12 to 24 ft. Connect the system to a 12 VDC source and minimize interference by separating the display power from a trolling motor power supply. The XPLORE 12 also features an optional NMEA 2000 port and supports Ethernet connections for accessory integration.

MEGA Live 2 transducer features

The MEGA Live 2 transducer is compatible with all fishfinders in the Humminbird XPLORE and APEX series, as well as the G3 models in the SOLIX series. It is designed to mount on all Minn Kota Ultrex and Fortrex trolling motors, including Ultrex QUEST models. To fully utilize its navigation functions, a GPS heading sensor must be installed. The MEGA Live 2 comes with extension cables: a 3 m (10 ft) MEGA Live power cable and a 6 m (20 ft) Ethernet cable, enabling quick disconnection. It requires a separate power supply from the fishfinder, protected by a 2 A fuse, and must be wired to a switch. When installing the transducer, ensure its field of view is not obstructed by surrounding elements.

System commissioning

After physical installation, commissioning involves initial setup via the display’s configuration guide, including language selection, measurement units, and time/date settings. Verify GPS detection (enhanced or 3D fix) and accessory connections. Software updates may be required for the display and transducer to activate all MEGA Live 2 features. Updates can be performed via an SD card.
