Erwan Le Roux

Born on September 7, 1974, in Auray, Morbihan, Erwan Le Roux is a French sailor who specializes in offshore multihull racing. Passionate about sailing from a young age, he climbed the ranks of ocean racing to become one of the most decorated skippers in the Multi 50 class, renamed Ocean Fifty in 2019. His technical expertise and mastery of racing trimarans have earned him international recognition in the offshore sailing world.

In 2008, Erwan Le Roux took the helm of FenêtréA Cardinal and achieved a series of successes for nearly five years. His exceptional record includes two victories in the Transat Jacques Vabre (2013 with Yann Eliès, 2015 with Giancarlo Pedote) and a historic win in the 2014 Route du Rhum, where he set a new class record of 11 days, 5 hours, and 55 seconds. This performance allowed him to beat the previous record by 12 hours and 15 minutes.

Beyond his sporting achievements, Erwan Le Roux is involved in the development of the Ocean Fifty class by serving as president of the association. He continues his career with the trimaran Koesio, notably winning the 2022 Route du Rhum in the Ocean Fifty class with a new record of 10 days, 21 hours, 35 minutes, and 52 seconds. He thus joins the very exclusive circle of four sailors who have won the Route du Rhum twice in the same category, alongside Laurent Bourgnon, Roland Jourdain, and Franck-Yves Escoffier.
