Detailed description
Detailed description
The AIRMAR XSONIC P319 transducer, also marketed as xSonic by the Navico Group (which includes brands such as Lowrance and Simrad), is a compact through-hull transducer designed to provide depth and water temperature data. Ideal for planing powerboats and sailboats up to 8 meters (26 feet), it offers a reliable and discreet solution for navigation and fishing.
Technical performance and integration
This plastic transducer (urethane acoustic window) stands out with its low-profile design, protruding only 5 mm (3/16") from the hull, thereby minimizing drag. The P319 features a single ceramic element for dual-frequency operation at 50 kHz and 200 kHz. At 50 kHz, it delivers a wide 45° beam with a maximum range of 366 meters (1,200 feet), while at 200 kHz, its 12° beam provides precise detail up to 213 meters (700 feet). With 600 Watts of power, it ensures effective seabed detection. Compared to more robust versions like the Airmar B117 (bronze) or SS60 (stainless steel), the P319’s plastic construction is a lightweight, cost-effective option, compliant with ABYC H-27 standards for durability.
Installation and compatibility
Installing the AIRMAR XSONIC P319 is straightforward, requiring only a single 51 mm (2 inch) hole in the hull. It comes with a rubber gasket to accommodate irregular hull surfaces and features a right-angle cable exit for space-saving and enhanced protection. The transducer is compatible with fiberglass and metal hulls. With a 10-meter cable, it adapts to various configurations. The xSonic designation indicates native compatibility with Navico systems (Lowrance, Simrad), but it can also be connected to other brands such as Garmin, Si-Tex, or Standard Horizon using specific adapter cables, offering great flexibility in integrating with existing marine electronic systems.
